Event description
Using arts and creativity to explore and express how we are impacted by grief and loss.

About this event

Join The Loss Project for an interactive online session that explores how arts and creativity have influenced, inspired or shifted our experiences of grief and loss, or of being alongside those who are. The session will be informal, relaxed and friendly and all are welcome. You can join in as much or as little as you want to but we will be encouraging everybody to participate and there will be breakout rooms.

Come prepared with a piece of art that has influenced your experiences of grief and loss and be able to talk a bit about it. You don't need to bring the actual artwork but finding a picture online of it if you don't physically have it might be helpful. You can bring whatever you like in whatever form, for example:

- A piece from another artist that you love- could be any form of visual art including photos, paintings, drawings, animations, embroidery etc - the list is endless!

- Something you have created

- A film or piece of music

- A performance or dance

We will be holding a safe space to explore how grief and bereavement touches all of us at some point in our lives, and how the arts and creativity can be a great way to help us to engage with these difficult topics and express ourselves.

This event is inspired by the Novels that Shaped our World and our partnership with the Death Positive Libraries Initiative [https://www.facebook.com/DeathPositiveLibrary]. The session structure follows the #spoonroom format developed by our friends and partners Camerados [https://www.camerados.org/spoonrooms/].

All are welcome, we can't wait to meet you.

NB: These sessions are not therapy sessions and we are not trained therapists. However we know that having places to connect, share and be in a friendly environment can be very therapeutic! You'll have time to share as much or as little of your story as you want to and we hope that the arts and creativity offers us a way into something that can often be difficult to talk about.
