Event description
A discovery of the colourful and theatrical world of 17th century Italy through music. Part of WINCHESTER BAROQUE SPRING 2020

About this Event

A discovery of the colourful and theatrical world of 17th century Italy through music, dramatically shaded by layers of emotional catharsis, pain and contentment, sounds and colours of nature. Harmonies of ‘La Nuova Musica’ from the world of Caravaggio, Bernini, Gentileschi move like the admired spiral shape in the baroque era into ear and soul. The ensembles’ instruments will be set up in the fashion of the 17th century, drawing musical lines, colours and shapes, resonating the Gonzaga’s Court into our future.
