About this Event

The Magic Gang

(Downstairs)

Brighton quartet The Magic Gang were formed by members of Home School, Yrrs, and Echochamp. Comprised of Angus Taylor, Jack Kaye , Kristian Smith, and Paeris Giles, the band cited American band Weezer as a major influence. They put out their debut single, "Alright," in 2015, and over the following few years released three EPs and a number of singles. In 2017 they traveled to rural Oxfordshire to work on their debut record with producer Jolyon Thomas (U2, Daughter). Their self-titled debut record was later released in 2018.

Anchorsong

After spending 2 years in Japan to focus on producing, "Mawa EP" was released on 18th August 2014 on BBE. His second LP "Ceremonial" was released on 29th Jan 2016 on Tru Thoughts. Blending traditional and modern music with a richly textured tapestry of outward-looking sounds, the record won supports from tastemakers like
