Mr John Brecknell speaks to Dr Catherine Marshall (Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Lecturer at QMUL) about his life at medical school, his career as a junior doctor and what it takes emotionally to make it as a neurosurgeon. This event will be recorded as a podcast and students will be able to live tweet questions. Drinks & Snacks provided

After 8 years at Cambridge, singing, playing rugby, learning about brain repair and gaining a primary medical qualification, John trained to be a neurosurgeon in Glasgow and Melbourne. He is now a Consultant in Romford. Following various roles in medical education, including leading the final MBBS year of Barts & The London SMD, he currently leads the London Postgraduate School of Surgery for HEE and chairs the Core Surgical Training Advisory Committee of the JCST.
