Description

mayamada founders Nigel and Lao will lead an in depth discussion on the creation of their game-changing manga brand set in a universe of unique and diverse characters and stories.

Join us for the first-ever mayamada panel and discover the story behind the British manga brand featured in Mashable, British Vogue and GQ, The Evening Standard, Metro and London Live.

They will share insight from the journey that lead them to start the business, taking questions from the audience too. Topics will include:

  • What is mayamada: the journey so far.

  • The process of creating their manga titles and building a universe.

  • Self publishing tips for beginners.

  • Marketing the mayamada brand through merchandise, events and collaborations.

  • How confidence plays and part in producing creative work and recovering from failures.

Whether you're a writer or artist (or both), creating stories for fun or aim to self-publish for profit you'll have a great opportunity to learn from the founders and also put your questions to them during the panel.

About mayamada:

Mayamada is a game-changing British brand that has already won the support of the Prince’s Trust, and caught the attention of tech and lifestyle giants Mashable, British Vogue and British GQ.

Influenced Japanese animation and comics, mayamada is an all-encompassing brand. Their products range from stylised casual clothing, to imaginative comics and even their own social gaming event.

Every aspect works to tell the story of the mayamada universe, a television network featuring an anthropomorphic cast. It’s an exciting mix reminiscent of Looney Tunes, Japanese TV and British streetwear.

The first mayamada comic, Samurai Chef, is a cooking show where the Samurai Chef judges contestants’ dishes with his samurai sword. It was produced via a Kickstarter campaign that smashed its fundraising goal three times over. It has received 4 out of 5 stars in Britain’s largest anime publication, NEO Magazine. mayamada have gone on to release titles Hot Lunch, Serious, and are working on new releases for 2017 too.

Please note: Cancellations for a refund via Eventbrite may be made up to 6pm on the Friday before the seminar. No refunds for latecomers.
