The Mammals of Cheshire - Free Public Lecture.

Tony Parker - Assistant Curator of Vertebrate Zoology at World Museum Liverpool, County Mammal Recorder for Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

An exploration of the terrestrial and marine mammals which are regularly seen in the Cheshire region, focusing on identification, conservation issues, observation and recording. Tony has been studying mammals in the region for over 30 years is currently the County Recorder for mammals in North West England. Tony runs regular survey training sessions for both Cheshire and Lancashire Wildlife Trusts and has contributed to two publication on local mammal fauna.

Tony Parker has worked in the Zoology Department at World Museum Liverpool since 1986. Tony is now Assistant Curator of Vertebrate Zoology, and is working on cataloguing and photographing the collections of animal specimens, an internationally significant research collection, to make the data available to all on the World Museum website. Tony also conserves specimens where required for loans and exhibitions etc. and supervises visitors and volunteers. Tony is interested in all aspects of British wildlife, with particular emphasis on recording the natural history of the North West region and is involved in several projects regarding researching and monitoring the distribution of birds, mammals and bumblebees in the area. He is a committee member of several local groups and societies including RSPB North Cheshire. Tony’s current research projects are: The distribution of North West England Mammals for regional and national atlas projects; Preparation of a distribution Atlas of Cheshire Bees, Wasps and Ants and the preparation of the zoology collection database for National Museums Liverpool's online collections.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is free parking at the event. You will need to use the entrance on the B5074 (Main Road) and park in either of the car parks on the left and right as you enter the campus. The event is being held in University Centre Reaseheath which will be signposted from the car parks.
