Description

This training session will cover the Barking and Dagenham MARAC (multi-agency risk assessment conference) process from point of referral to case closure. The session aims to demystify the MARAC and increase understanding of how to refer and what to expect from the service.

Objectives:

  • To better understand the aims of MARAC and the need for a multi-agency approach
  • To gain understanding of the core agencies that attend MARAC
  • To clarify MARAC thresholds, and to have an increased understanding of levels of risk
  • To understand how to refer and continue to engage with the process
  • To gain understanding of information sharing at MARAC, and how this might impact the person you are referring
  • To understand how MARAC develops action plans
  • To have a basic understanding of police powers and tools, including the DVDS (Clare's Law), Domestic Violence Protection Notices/Orders etc.
  • To understand the governance structure of MARAC

Who Should Attend?

All professionals (statutory and non-statutory) who come into contact with victim/survivors of domestic violence and abuse, and other Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strands.

Who will be providing the training?

Ronan McManus, Detective Inspector for Safeguarding. DI McManus chairs the MARAC in Barking and Dagenham, as well as in Redbridge and Havering which both fall under the East Basic Command Unit of the Metropolitan Police.
