About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

It is a rare privilege to welcome a vocal ensemble of international renown to the Borders.

The Marian Consort is one of Europe’s most celebrated young chamber choirs, praised for their expressive clarity and original programming. They have performed at leading venues including Wigmore Hall and the BBC Proms, and their reputation stretches across the UK, Europe, and beyond.

This special concert offers a rare opportunity to hear choral works from the Scottish Renaissance, a repertoire rarely heard today due to its complexity and challenging vocal demands. These are the sacred sounds that once echoed through Borders abbeys before the Reformation, now brought vividly back to life under the direction of founder and conductor Rory McCleery.

Earlier that day, the Marian Consort will also lead a workshop with young singers from local schools. Please see The Marian Consort website, nearer the time, for updates on this.
