Event Information
Description
Fresh from competing in London, GB rower Matt Wells from Hexham and over a dozen of his fellow Olympians will be in Town on Saturday August 18 to take part in the ‘Matt Wells 2012 Jubilee Sprint Regatta’ at Hexham Rowing Club – which will see them compete against each other on the River Tyne in a series of 200m Olympic Rower Sprints. There will also be a full race card of local rowers pitting themselves against the world’s finest.
Running alongside is a Family Fun Day on Tyne Green which includes lots of activities that will appeal to all ages from face painting and bouncy castles to a classic car show, climbing wall, pony and trap rides, trampolines, plus cycling and welly throwing contests and much, much, more.
The event kicks off at 11am at Tyne Green in Hexham and will finish at 5pm.
Entry is free so come and join in the fun!
All funds raised on the day will go to local rowing organisations, and in particular, provide an Annual Scholarship for a young athlete of outstanding potential in Tynedale.
