THE MEERKAT MINI RUN

Date: 20 May 2018

Venue: The Meadows, Edinburgh, EH9 1LJ (the tennis courts end)

The Meerkat Mini Run is a fun obstacle course designed for children aged between 3 and 8 years of age. The obstacles (examples include hay bales, tree trunk hurdles, cargo crawls, balance beams, tunnels, tyre steps and many more) are laid out over a c400m track. Entrants can complete the course as many times as they like in their 30-minute time slot. And importantly, everyone receives a medal!

 

Please note:

  • The event is for children aged between 3 and 8 years of age only
  • A guardian must accompany the child around the course. The guardian must be 18 years or older and have the legal guardian’s consent. There can be two participants per guardian.

 

Timing: Entry is in 30-minute time slots, starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm. When booking, you will choose your preferred time slot.

 

Entry fee: Entry is £8 per child. This includes access to the obstacle course for the duration of the 30-minute time slot, and a medal! £5 from each entry fee goes to the Rob Roy Challenge charity partners.

 

Registration:

  • You must book and pay for your place in advance on Eventbrite.com.
  • Once registered, you can login to Eventbrite and edit your entry up to 14 days before the event. Please ensure all details are complete and correct before this date.
  • On the day of the event, you must take your Eventbrite e-ticket. You will also have to complete a short disclaimer form before the start of your time slot.
  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your time slot so that you have plenty of time to get ready.
  • Please read the terms and conditions ​carefully before registering.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. Definitions

“Entrant” means an individual entering the Event.

"Event" means ‘The Meerkat Mini-Run’ taking place in Edinburgh on the 20th May 2018

“Operator” means the event operators

"Land" means the land on which the Event is held.

 

2. Waiver

i. The Entrant and legal guardian by acceptance hereof (indicated by entering the Event) waives, releases and forever discharges (for the avoidance of doubt for him/herself, his/her heirs, executors, administrators and legal representatives), any and all rights and/or claims which the Entrant and legal guardian may have against the Operator for all damages and/or claims which may be sustained directly or indirectly arising out of participation in the Event (including, notwithstanding the foregoing generality the provision of emergency or medical treatment at the Event). Further, the Entrant and legal guardian warrants that they will not take any action against the Operator for any loss or injury which may be sustained by the Entrant directly or indirectly arising out of their participation in the Event or their presence on the Land. This release and discharge includes, but is not limited to, claims for property damage, economic loss, breach of contract, lost wages, contribution indemnity or any other legally enforceable claim arising out of the Entrant’s participation in the Event (including for the avoidance of any doubt all legal costs associated with such claims).

 

ii. The Entrant and legal guardian, by acceptance hereof indicated by entering the Event, indemnifies the Operator against all claims and causes of action brought against the Operator by a third party arising either directly or indirectly as a result of the Entrant and legal guardian’s (i) actions on the Land and (ii) participation in the Event, including, notwithstanding the foregoing generality, the Entrant and legal guardian’s breach of any of these terms and conditions.

 

3.Registration

i. The Entrant and legal guardian confirm that all details submitted when registering are correct.

ii. The Event is for children aged between 3 and 8 years only. All participants must be accompanied by a guardian at all times – before, during and after participation in the run. The guardian must be 18 years or older and have the legal guardian’s consent.

iii. Limited places are available and participants must register in advance of the event. The guardian is required to complete a short form before starting the run. 

 

4. Safety

i. Measures have been taken to ensure the safety of each Entrant, including the placing of marshals and an onsite first aider. However, the legal guardian is ultimately responsible for the Entrant’s well-being and are expected to ensure their safety.

 

5. Medical

i. The Entrant’s legal guardian declares that the Entrant meets the age requirements at the time of the Event and are sufficiently healthy and physically fit to participate in the Event.

ii. The Entrant and legal guardian agree to inform the Event onsite medic of any significant medical history before the Event starts.

 

6. Event rules

i. The Entrant and legal guardian are expected to adhere to the following rules to ensure safety.

- listen to and if asked, support marshals and Operator at all times

- wear appropriate clothing and footwear to adequately manage inclement weather and rough terrain

- put the safety of other Entrants first and assist anyone in need of help and alert a marshal

- do not attempt any of the obstacles prior to the Event starting

- adverse weather conditions could affect the safety of some obstacles; if in doubt avoid obstacle and alert a marshal

 

7. Acknowledgement of risks

i. The Entrant and legal guardian acknowledge and understand that the Event is potentially hazardous and accepts that participation in the Event is potentially dangerous and that there are numerous risks associated with participation.

ii. The Entrant and legal guardian understand and accept that participation in the Event may result in serious bodily injury and/or death.

iii. The Entrant and legal guardian acknowledge and accept that the course is on natural uneven terrain and could lead to injury.

iv. The Entrant and legal guardian acknowledges that the Event could take place in low temperatures and inclement weather.

v. The Entrant and legal guardian state that they voluntarily enter the Event with full knowledge and understanding of the risks involved.

 

8. Insurance

i. The Entrant and legal guardian acknowledges and understands that it is their personal responsibility to arrange for insurance cover for the Event if the Entrant and legal guardian wish to be covered by insurance.

 

9. Property

i. It is the responsibility of the Entrant and legal guardian to provide the necessary clothing/footwear/equipment for the Event.

ii. The Operator accepts no responsibility for the loss of, theft, or damage to any property owned by or under the control of the Entrant and legal guardian placed by the Entrant and legal guardian in the Event’s registration area and/or at any point of the Event course.

iii. The Entrant and legal guardian is expected to respect and take reasonable care of all equipment/property provided by the Operator. The Entrant and legal guardian accept that the Operator has the right to charge them for any deliberate damage.

 

10. Refund policy

i. We regret that will not be able to provide any proportion of event entry refund having entered the event. This policy is non-discriminatory and does not take account of any individual circumstances in order for fairness and clarity.

ii. If the Event has to be rescheduled, the Entrant is transferred to the new Event date. If the Entrant cannot attend the new date, the place can be transferred to a new Entrant or a refund can be paid upon request.

iii. The Entrant’s place can be transferred to a replacement Entrant if done more than 14 days in advance of the Event. We do not accept swaps or replacements within two weeks of the event.

iv. The terms and conditions of this refund policy do not affect the Entrant and legal guardian’s statutory rights as a consumer.

 

11. Photo & Video - Image Rights

i. The Entrant and legal guardian consent to being photographed and recorded during the event. The Entrant and legal guardian waive any rights of publicity or privacy and allows the Operator to use the images and recordings of their participation in the Event to publicise the Event in any form of media and in any country without further approval from the Entrant and legal guardian.

ii. The Entrant and legal guardian expressly waive any claims against the Operator (including their directors, officers, agents, employees, consultants, licensees and assignees) in relation to any issues concerning the invasion of privacy, defamation or any other cause of action whatsoever arising out of the production, distribution, sale, broadcast or exhibition of Event imagery or any promotional materials relating to the Event.

 

12. Personal Photos & Videos

i. The Entrant and legal guardian are welcome to take photographs and film recordings of their participation in the Event for non-commercial purposes only. The Entrant and legal guardian must contact the Operator if they wish to use any imagery of the Event for commercial purposes.

 

13. Acceptance of Terms & Conditions of Entry

i. The Entrant and legal guardian understand that failure to comply with the terms and conditions listed here may result in removal from the Event.

ii. By attending the site of the Event, whether you are participating or not, you are deemed to be accepting the Event’s terms and conditions.

The Mini-Run is organised by a group of volunteers with the sole aim to raise funds for the charity partners of the Rob Roy Challenge. The course is being kindly provided and managed by Glack Hill Adventure Ltd. Glack Hill Adventure Ltd. runs an award winning obstacle mud run in Aberdeenshire, called Glack Attack.
