About this event

Based thematically on 198 CAL’s exhibitions programme and archives, The Meeting Point is an event series facilitated by a creative laboratory I L X I A H (Lara Grace Ilori & Caleb Obediah), which offers professionals of any discipline a supportive space for self-reflection, creative exploration, and community-building through understanding each other’s working practices.

Previously, I L X I A H have hosted nurses, musicians, actors and engineers and are looking forward to welcoming more people, professions and perspectives to discuss themes centred on 198 CAL’s archival material and exhibitions, accompanied by free catering provided from local food vendors.

Join us at 6pm for a community walk through Brockwell Park (Herne Hill entrance as the starting point), with discussion beginning at 7pm inside the gallery space.

Organized by

198 Contemporary Arts and Learning is a registered charity based in Brixton. We are a venue for the exhibition of visual arts, a community hub and an arts education centre which opened in December 1988, contributing to the regeneration of Brixton following the race riots of the 1980s. Known initially as Roots Community and then 198 Gallery, 198 has grown from a community arts space, which helped nurture the Black Arts movement into a contemporary visual arts organisation searching out artistic excellence and investing in emerging talents with a particular focus on supporting the development of young people. We offer three core strands of engagement: Artistic, Education and Enterprise. www.198.org.uk.
