About this event

Celebrating their 40th year of raising hell in 2024, The Men They Couldn't Hang evolved from the Shepherd’s Bush squatting and busking scene in 1984 with their uproarious and engaging style, coupled with keenly contemporary songs, swiftly gaining them a passionate national following.

Their recordings have been acclaimed in print, on radio and online; from their definitive version of the anti war classic Green Fields of France to the anti fascist anthem Ghosts of Cable Street and the epic historical ballads, Ironmasters and The Colours. Recent albums The Defiant (2014) and Cockahoop (2018) have seen TMTCH rise again into prominence; their vitality undimmed.

Devastated by the passing of friend and founder member Stefan Cush during the Covid lockdown, the band are responding in the only way they know how; writing, recording and playing live to their ever loyal and growing community of fans, selling out venues across the land with their firebrand mix of punk passion, rousing guitars and folk roots.

Mad Dog Mcrea blend a unique mixture of folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and ‘shake your ass’ music. From self-penned songs of adventure, drinking, love and life, to traditional songs of gypsies, fairies, legless pirates and black flies - Mad Dog never fail to capture their audience with their infectious songs. In constant demand and having played just about every festival and two-bit, jibe-arsed dive in Christendom, Mad Dog Mcrea are, in every sense of the word, a live, band.
