Event description
Take a walk with Menai Heritage to view the two bridges over the strait!

About this event

The Menai Suspension Bridge was built over the Strait by Thomas Telford, opening in 1826. In 1850, the Britannia Tubular Bridge, a railway bridge, was opened.

Our qualified tour guides will be leading walking tours to explore the history of these two bridges and the surrounding area. You will get a chance to walk across and under the Suspension Bridge, then go on to view the Britannia Bridge from below and see the lion sculptures that stood at the entrance to the tubes.

Visitors will need to walk about three miles. The walks will be mostly on the level on unpaved roads or paths, but some parts will be on a steep slope or down steps to a rocky seashore. The walk is three miles long and will last between 2 and 2.5 hours.

With current Covid-19 restrictions we can have organised walks with people from multiple households. We limit our groups to 12 people. Your guide will remain two metres away from you at all times; please respect this requirement.

Walks must be booked and paid for in advance through EventBrite. Use the ticket options on this page to book.

Menai Heritage is a charity and all proceeds from these walks go towards supporting our work preserving the heritage and telling the story of the Menai Bridges area.
