A training course for:  Providers - Registered and Senior Managers and Safeguarding Trainers in all Health and Social Care settings.

The purpose of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 was to provide a clear framework for assessment and making decisions.

Evidence shows us that the application of the MCA has been variable but when applied appropriately it is an empowering piece of legislation that focuses on individual strengths and civil rights and places the emphasis on the individual making their own decision.

How we think about and work with mental capacity has changed over time and 10 years on from the introduction of the Act there is still much that needs to be done to raise awareness and challenge assumptions that are often made about a person’s capacity based on their condition or diagnosis.

This training day is an opportunity to be updated on changes and developments in the MCA and DoLS and will be helpful in demonstrating the knowledge requirements to meet the new CQC KLOE Safe S1 – Effective E7.

TICKETS ARE FREE, HOWEVER THERE WILL BE A CHARGE OF £50 FOR NON-ATTENDANCE.

This event is being funded by the Health and Social Care Training and Development Group for the IOW.

Places on this course are strictly limited - if you have not had your booking confirmed by email you may be turned away on the day - please contact the organiser if you need your booking confirmed.
