We warmly invite you to take part in our upcoming textile workshop with artist group Made in Merton. The Merton Story workshop series is part of Merton Council’s latest initiative, Merton United. This exciting new project celebrates the diverse cultures and heritage that shape our borough and forms part of Merton’s Cultural Impact Award programme.
The Merton Story aims to ensure that our local history includes everyone’s voice - especially those from the disabled community. Let’s come together to tell the full story of Merton, including yours!
Join us for this free workshop, open to all abilities!
Explore your creativity with block printing and storytelling in this hands-on textile workshop. Alongside the practical session, enjoy a heritage talk that delves into the rich history of Merton.
We also invite participants to bring photos and relevant objects or materials (for example textiles and food packaging) that they could discuss and which might be used, with their consent, for the design and imagery of the artwork.
🧵 When: Friday 5 September 2025, 10am - 12pm
📍 Where: Vestry Hall, Mitcham (wheelchair accessible)
