About this event

Health • Personal health

The Milky Way is part of a touring programme for Feed, an arts-based project that promotes inclusive, sustainable approaches to infant feeding and public space. Core to The Milky Way is Feeding Chair, a multimedia artwork and infant feeding chair which has travelled to places including Manchester, Bristol, Leeds, Birmingham, Scarborough, Cardiff. Its visit to Glasgow is the only Scottish stop on the tour.

Working with cultural venues, public health teams, artists and communities, the project aims to create opportunities for people to share their experiences of feeding babies and young children, while challenging negative social attitudes towards human milk and mothering.

This event will see a panel of experts share their knowledge and experience on breastfeeding. The discussion will touch upon breastfeeding practices, its visibility and stigma, and explore how to promote healthy, though at times challenging, conversations on maternal and infant health in today’s society.
