About this event

- Live life to the full by learning ways to relish the present moment -

This 8 week course is suitable for people new to mindfulness as well as those who would like to deepen their meditation or mindfulness practice.

It takes place at lovely Shoreline studios, close to Portobello beach.

It is accredited by the Mindfulness Association and recognised in the UK Good Practice Guidelines.

Clunie will be your teacher through the 8 weeks. She trained to teach the course with the Mindfulness Association’s two-year programme. She has since worked for many years with people of all ages and has felt the long-lasting benefits of the course in her own life.

The course includes 18 hours of in-person teaching time within a small and friendly group, with a 2 hour class once a week for 8 weeks (with coffee/tea breaks). Audio recordings of all the main mindfulness practices, a course manual and a certificate of completion are also included.

There is a follow up class approximately 4 weeks after the course ends.

Also, there is an optional all-day retreat on Saturday October 4th.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a way of living in the moment and of being aware of everything that makes up this experience. Moving towards a more direct and immediate connection with everyday life and what’s going on around us all, with kindness and curiosity, we can experience more pleasure, joy and happiness, moment by moment. Over time, this can contribute to a renewed sense of empowerment as we recognise how to make more choices about living life more fully. Learning the techniques provided on the course can bring about long-term changes in mood and levels of happiness, as well as positively affecting the brain's patterns which underlie day-to-day anxiety, stress, depression and irritability.

Participants of the course have reported experiencing

  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Improved mood
  • Improved well-being
  • Improved sleep

It becomes possible to be less caught up in the ups and downs of everyday life! Mindfulness can be of huge benefit to everyone. It is not a religion and is taught in a secular (non-religious) way, so it is suitable for people of any faith or no faith. It is not counselling or therapy.

An important part of this course is practising kindness - both to yourself and to others. This is developed throughout with a series of guided meditations.
