On 6 January 1945, a B-17 Flying Fortress named The Mission Mistress took off from Rougham Airfield - its crew bound for Germany on a critical bombing mission. Tragedy struck as the aircraft crashed into what is now Moreton Hall in Bury St Edmunds. In this powerful anniversary lecture, Derek Wilson tells the remarkable story of the young American crew, their time at Rougham, and the dramatic events of that day.

Bio

Derek Wilson is a lecturer at the West Suffolk College. He has extensive industry experience in engineering and is also activley involved with the Mission Mistress Memorial Group.
