The Money | Houses of Parliament [Special Edition]
Tuesday, 21 April 2015 from 18:30 to 21:00 (BST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Kaleider is massively excited to be running a special edition of The Money at the Houses of Parliament on 21st April 2015.
We cannot think of a better venue anywhere in the world for this piece of work (and we’ve tried). The game will take place in Committee Room 17, with drinks in the Jubilee Room off Westminster Hall, and we’d love it if you could join us.
There is one change to proceedings… The Houses of Parliament and its facilities cannot be used for any individual or organisation to profit, so if the Benefactors were to come to a unanimous decision it wouldn’t be possible to then spend the money. It means that, just for this performance, we will be using pretend money. So we’ve gone and got ourselves a wad of Monopoly Money ready to send to the lucky 40 who get to go.
Who does get to go? Well, we want to make this as open as possible, so it is free to attend and all you have to do is express your interest by booking your place. We're particularly interested in people of all ages and backgrounds attending*. Then on 10th of April at midday, we will pick names out of a hat..
When: Tuesday 21st April 2015 6.30 - 9pm
Where: Houses of Parliament (exact details for arrival will be confirmed)
Tickets: You can express your interest here. Names will then be picked out of a hat from noon on 10th April.
*If you are under 16 we have created a special ticket type where you get 1 additional ticket for a parent or guardian to attend with you. If you require a carer to attend with you then please also choose this option.
More about The Money at Parliament:
To play The Money you choose to be a Benefactor or a Silent Witness. If you choose to be a Benefactor you work with the other Benefactors to decide what to spend the group’s money on.
You have one hour to come to a decision. If you don’t decide unanimously in the allotted time you relinquish your privilege to spend the money and the money rolls over to the next group of Benefactors.
If you’re the quiet observing type you can become a Silent Witness and watch as the group of Benefactors attempt to decide how to spend the money. And if you want to voice your opinion you can always become a Benefactor and buy your way in.
Spend the money on whatever you want. Be as creative as you like. Just keep within the law.
At Parliament we'll be using Monopoly Money, which we will provide. If you want to play with real money The Money is at Battersea Arts Centre from 15th April until 1st May (Wednesday - Friday).
