Event description

Description

London Metropolitan University is organising a series of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) events relating to Interpreting and Translation in different settings. This event is one of the most popular CPD we run: The Multifacets of Business Interpreting.

All our CPD events follow a similar model: Learn, Reflect, Practise

Interpreters and translators play a key role in complex business settings. Even though they may not appear to be visible to the wider audience, negotiations, agreements and contracts would not be sealed without their help. They allow communication to take place in a way that everyone understands.

However, very few training programmes include specific interpreting skills to prepare interpreters to work in a business settings. This CPD aims to provide an insight of the business context. The event will include presentations, group reflection, case studies and discussions.

During this CPD, we will work around the following themes:

  1. Key interpreting skills required to work in business settings
  2. Identifying opportunities for business interpreting assignments
  3. Defining what quality interpreting in specific business settings mean
  4. The interpreter's identity and decision making when working in a business setting
  5. Building strong client relationships

Here is the programme of the day.
