The Naked Truth - Live Stream
Event Information
About this Event
The Naked Truth is an online streamed Arts event. It will be held on 1st December 2020 (World AIDS Day) at 19:30.
Dancers from some of the world’s leading ballet companies will be screening their own, original works. 15 new dance films by artists from companies including The Royal Ballet, Ballet Black and San Francisco Ballet will premiere on the night, alongside music, poetry and interviews.
Each piece of performance in The Naked Truth has been created by the individual artist through lockdown to spread positivity and help remove the stigma around HIV.
Joshua Royal wanted to create an event to encourage you through his own story to become informed, to speak freely and to remove the veil of stigmas from the past. With the support from House of Rainbow and StreamMovement, Joshua and the accompanying artists invite you to enjoy the experience, learn, and educate others so we can all break free of the HIV stigma.
The Terrence Higgins Trust is the UK’s leading HIV and sexual health charity. There will be an opportunity to donate to them during the event and help them amplify the voices of those affected by HIV. They aim to eradicate stigma and discrimination as we do, to shape a world that is more inclusive and positive.
An auction of signed pointe shoes of Ballerinas: Mara Galeazzi, Cira Robinson & Sasha Mukhamedov will also be running during the event. The funds raised from this will support the event and the artists involved.
This event is dedicated to the memory of artists Rudolf Nureyev and Freddie Mercury, who suffered the stigma of HIV; and to two vocal advocates and pioneers of AIDS awareness: Elizabeth Taylor and Diana, Princess of Wales
