The Nat “King” Cole Story with Atila and the Joe Pettitt Quartet
Overview
Enjoy an evening of all the favourite songs: Unforgettable, Nature Boy, L-O-V-E, Sweet Lorraine, Route 66 and so many more great songs from the back-catalogue of Nat “King” Cole - one of the finest from the 20th Century.
Performed by Atila, one of London’s most respected swing singers. Atila is a regular at Ronnie Scott’s, The London Jazz Festival and Pizza Express Dean Street. Atila has appeared with the John Wilson Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra (including a live broadcast on BBC Radio 2 from Cheltenham) and in the US, at the invitation of the Nelson Riddle Foundation. His most recent album “King For A Day” celebrates the early musical career of Nat “King” Cole.
“I was knocked out by Atila. He has the voice and the class to show the world what great music is all about!” - Buddy Greco
Leading the quartet backing Atila is bassist, Joe Pettitt. This will be Joe’s third concert at St James after 2025 appearances with Jazz At The Movies and Embraceable Ella. Perhaps best known as director of the LP Swing Orchestra, Joe is also one of London’s most in-demand bass players. With the LPSO he has presented 3 TV shows for Sky and conducts regularly at the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall and the Blackpool Tower Ballroom. Recent collaborators include Mica Paris, Joe Stilgoe, Clare Teal and the Puppini Sisters. As a jazz bass player, Joe has worked with Curtis Stigers, Burt Bacharach, Michael Feinstein, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, John Wilson Orchestra and Pete Long’s Echoes of Ellington. In the pop world he has toured or recorded with the likes of Noel Gallagher, Joss Stone, Rick Astley and Tony Christie.
