Playday is the national day for play, celebrated each year across the UK on the first Wednesday in August. Playday 2025 will be celebrated on Wednesday 6 August.
We are excited to announce that the theme for this year’s Playday is … Spaces for Play.
This year’s theme highlights the vital importance of accessible, inclusive spaces where children and young people have opportunities to play freely, spending time, and connecting with friends – and feel valued as part of their community. Children will play anywhere and everywhere, so access to quality playful spaces and places is essential for their happiness and development, offering opportunities to boost both physical health and emotional well-being.
This Playday, we’re calling for spaces for play that:
- Are inclusive and welcoming for children and young people of all ages and abilities.
- Provide accessible, safe, and playful spaces where children can play freely in their local community.
- Maximise opportunities for play in schools, childcare, and youth settings.
- Are shaped by the voices, needs, and experiences of children and young people themselves.
- Support play that promotes fun, friendship, being active, enjoying nature, and building a strong sense of belonging.
- Encourage families, carers, and communities to come together through play across generations.
Every child and young person has the right to play – and they deserve the time, space, freedom, and opportunity to do so, every day. This Playday, we encourage families, community leaders, planners, developers, and everyone who shapes children’s lives to champion better spaces for play. Together, we can create a more playful, inclusive world where all children can grow, thrive, and belong.
Mae diwrnod chwarae cenedlaethol y DU yn cael ei ddathlu bob blwyddyn ar ddydd Mercher cyntaf mis Awst. Bydd diwrnod chwarae 2025 yn cael ei ddathlu ddydd Mercher 6 Awst.
Rydym yn gyffrous i gyhoeddi mai'r thema ar gyfer Diwrnod Chwarae eleni yw ... Mannau ar gyfer Chwarae.
Mae'r thema eleni yn tynnu sylw at bwysigrwydd hanfodol mannau hygyrch a chynhwysol lle mae plant a phobl ifanc yn cael cyfleoedd i chwarae'n rhydd, treulio amser a chysylltu â ffrindiau – a theimlo eu bod yn cael eu gwerthfawrogi fel rhan o'u cymuned. Bydd plant yn chwarae unrhyw le ac ym mhobman, felly mae mynediad at fannau a lleoedd chwarae o safon yn hanfodol ar gyfer eu hapusrwydd a'u datblygiad, gan gynnig cyfleoedd i roi hwb i iechyd corfforol a lles emosiynol.
Ar Ddiwrnod Chwarae eleni, rydyn ni'n galw am fannau chwarae sydd:
- Yn gynhwysol ac yn groesawgar i blant a phobl ifanc o bob oedran a gallu.
- Darparu mannau hygyrch, diogel a chwareus lle gall plant chwarae'n rhydd yn eu cymuned leol.
- Gwneud y mwyaf o gyfleoedd i chwarae mewn ysgolion, gofal plant a lleoliadau ieuenctid.
- Yn cael eu siapio gan leisiau, anghenion a phrofiadau plant a phobl ifanc eu hunain.
- Cefnogi chwarae sy'n hyrwyddo hwyl, cyfeillgarwch, bod yn egnïol, mwynhau natur meithrin ymdeimlad cryf o berthyn.
- Annog teuluoedd, gofalwyr a chymunedau i ddod at ei gilydd trwy chwarae ar draws cenedlaethau.
Mae gan bob plentyn a pherson ifanc yr hawl i chwarae – ac maen nhw'n haeddu'r amser, y gofod, y rhyddid a'r cyfle i wneud hynny, bob dydd. Eleni, rydym yn annog teuluoedd, arweinwyr cymunedol, cynllunwyr, datblygwyr, a phawb sy'n siapio bywydau plant i hyrwyddo gwell mannau ar gyfer chwarae. Gyda'n gilydd, gallwn greu byd mwy chwareus, cynhwysol lle gall pob plentyn dyfu, ffynnu a pherthyn.
