Join us for The National Windrush Conference presented by ‘Nottingham Windrush Support Forum in partnership with the National BME Windrush Lawyers Group.

This will be a Big Conversation and Call for Action regarding the ongoing Windrush scandal. The meeting will have eminent national and local speakers involved in the Windrush Scandal to date. There will be a panel and Q&A session. The meeting will:

  • Provide the latest national updates on the current position politically, legally and on community levels.

  • Hear first-hand the experiences of Windrushers; their families and the implications of this for our ongoing campaign.

  • Explore ways of ensuring that the ongoing campaign becomes more coordinated and has a strong national, strategic, regional and local dimensions.

Zita Holbourne is an award winning, trade union, community & human rights campaigner and activist, sell-out author, visual artist, curator, poet and writer. She is the Co-Founder and National Co-Chair of Black Activists Rising Against Cuts (BARAC) UK

Intended outcomes for the conference

• Agree on the principles of a strong community engagement and media strategy

• Conclude with key demands that are borne out of the best legal considerations, that will be positioned to the Home Secretary and Prime Minister

There will be poetry performed by Panya Banjoko a UK based writer and poet whose work has been published in various anthologies including the 2012 Olympic Games. She co-ordinates a Black Writers’ Network, is patron for Nottingham UNESCO City of Literature and the founder of Nottingham Black Archive.

There will be free lunch and refreshment available throughout the day.
