Event description

Description

This event has a twofold aim: First, the dissemination of the research findings from the recently completed project, ‘The networked self: exploring formal women’s networks as a source of career development and identity for female engineers’. The project, drawing upon 48 interviews with women engineers at different seniority levels across the UK (but also in the US and Australia), examined the impact of women’s networks on career development and identity. Second, bringing together all those involved in gender equality in the engineering industry here in Bristol (i.e. gender network leaders, chairs, advisory board members and D&I leads) in order to discuss about gender networks and how they can help organisations to attract, retain and develop their female talent so that we can together set an agenda for Bristol and the South West. In other words, this meeting will provide an opportunity to meet each other and think about how gender networks, companies and the universities can collaborate in order to address gender inequality in engineering.
