Trauma is a term that is increasingly widely used. It doesn't just affect emotions; it rewires the brain and changes how we see and interact with the world around us. In this talk, Dr Michael Keane will explore the science of how trauma reshapes neural circuits involved in memory, emotion, and stress responding. Drawing on recent evidence, two decades of brain imaging, and unique aspects of trauma within the Irish experience, this session will explain why some individuals are more resilient while others remain vulnerable to trauma.
Dr Micheal Keane will also discuss the brain’s capacity for recovery and present new approaches to therapy and self-care. This session is designed to demystify the science of trauma and how it shapes our understanding of the topic.
Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7:30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!
