After a sold-out event on the Neuroscience of Periods & PMS, Dr Emilė Radytė returns with the next step: The Neuroscience of PMDD.
Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) is a severe, hormone-sensitive condition that affects up to 1 in 20 people who menstruate. Despite its impact, it remains underdiagnosed and poorly understood.
This evening is about cutting through the confusion. Dr Radytė will explain what’s happening in the brain during PMDD, how it differs from PMS, what the science is telling us about treatment, and what this means for those living with the condition. Whether you experience PMDD yourself, support someone who does, or work in health and research, this talk is designed to give you clarity, context, and space for questions.
What we’ll cover
- How changes in brain chemistry across the cycle can trigger PMDD
- Why PMDD is different from PMS, and why that difference matters
- What the latest research is showing us about diagnosis and treatment
- Common myths that still get in the way of care
- Practical supports that can make symptoms easier to manage
- Space for lived experiences and your questions
