About this event

The programme has been organised over two days, the 15th & 16th of September 2025, in Helsinki.

Venue: The Jedi Training School at Aalto University A GRID startup community

It can be taken as a whole or in separate parts.

The programme will appeal to industry and government, but is also designed for independent consultants seeking new methods and tools to use with their clients.

The overall theme uses lessons from nature about optimisation, applied to human systems, while bringing the field of complexity science to pragmatic methods and tools with immediate applicability.

In this two-day programme, you will learn how to:

  • Foster innovation and interconnect silos by stimulating the formation of informal networks.
  • More accurately estimate the resources and risks of new complex projects before they start, avoiding costly failures.
  • Map the current state of affairs, identify what can’t be changed and what can be changed at what cost and over what time; and learn how to change the environment with simple interventions to increase the chance of project and programme success.
  • Allocate scarce resources strategically across a portfolio of initiatives, with reduced bureaucracy but increased audit control and higher levels of employee and/or citizen engagement.

NOTE: If you wish to only attend the afternoon of Day 2, there is no cost. Please apply to dave.snowden@cognitive-edge.com for your seat.
