Event description
Catherine Chatters will describe the New Forest Non-Native Plants Project which is helping to stop the spread of invasive non-native plants

About this Event

This is an ONLINE talk brought to you by the Romsey local group of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.

American Skunk Cabbage, Giant Hogweed, Parrot’s Feather and Japanese Knotweed are just some of the many non-native plants that have ‘jumped the garden fence’ and invaded the New Forest, outcompeting our native vegetation and even posing a risk to human health. The New Forest Non-Native Plants Project is hosted by Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust (HIWWT) and works in partnership at the catchment scale to give advice and practical assistance to help landowners meet their responsibilities to control invasive non-native plants particularly along watercourses and in wetland habitats. Catherine will describe some of the problems caused by invasive non-native plants, celebrate the help given by the people who kindly give their time to volunteer with the Project and will explain how gardeners can play their part in stopping the spread of invasive non-native plants.

To book a ticket for this event click on "Tickets" to make a donation. The suggested donation is £4 per person, £3 for students. All donations go to support the work of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.
