Come along to our ninth parent carer participation event!

The New World of SEN

On the 26th June, parent / carers and professionals will come together to help design services and improve support for your child (0-25 yrs) with special educational needs / disabilities.

Recent changes to SEN support have been completed and we need you to tell us what is working well and where improvements are needed. Help us work with education, social care and community health professionals to make those improvements matter.

We'll be running two sessions (10:00 - 14:30) or (18:00 - 21:00) with the same content, so you can choose which is best for you. Please make sure that you select a time/date from the dropdown box above to choose whether you wish to attend the daytime or evening event.

Topics in each session include:

  • How SEN support works in schools
  • What changes in Social Care support will mean
  • Workshop: Short Breaks Services from 2019

Join parent carers and professionals to help improve services

Hear from parent carers about their work and stay informed

Therapies

We offer therapies during the daytime session.  For the FIRST TIME, this year we are also offering them during the EVENING session.  These are free for parents/carers - please book your 15 minute session when you arrive.

Therapies include:

  • Massage
  • Shiatsu
  • Reflexology

Organiser

Bristol Parent Carers

Bristol Parent Carers is a friendly group of parent carers of children and young people with disabilities, special needs and life limiting conditions (0-25 years). Our expanding group comes from all different backgrounds and communities in Bristol

We have joined together to work with the local authorities to shape the services provided for all our families - this is called 'parent carer participation'.

We share our experience and knowledge and volunteer skills and a bit of time to make a difference - through meetings, email and the website.

Parent carer participation can bring about positive change for families. We were formed to ensure the process is parent-led and independent, reaches as many families as possible, involves parents and professionals in new exciting ways and is based on parent carers' visions of a better future.

If you have any queries about this event or our organisation please email rosie@bristolparentcarers.org.uk or call 07914 320 540.
