Join the Northern Conversation
Who are the inspiring thought-leaders in our region? And would you like to meet them, hear what they have to say and share your thoughts?
The Northern Conversation: Live is a cross-disciplinary conversation between thought leaders about the challenges and opportunities in the north east of England.
Launching in December 2014, The Northern Conversation: Live is a quarterly event, hosted by The Northern Correspondent, a new print magazine of longer-form journalism and storytelling about the north east. The theme of each event ties in with the theme of the latest issue of the magazine, which is launched at the event.
Event 1: The urban issue: Reinventing our north east cities and towns
What do we want from our cities and towns? How should we be selling our cities to the rest of the country/world? How can we make them work better? How we make them more liveable, enjoyable, safer? How do we make them smart cities?
Confirmed conversation-starters at the event include:
Nick Forbes, Newcastle City Council leader
Peter Buchan, senior partner at Ryder Architecture and chair of BALTIC
Rachel Armstrong, professor of exploratory architecture at Newcastle University
Charlie Hoult, chairman of Dynamo North East, Opencast Software and CEO of Hoults Yard
Katja Leyendecker, chair of Newcastle Cycling Campaign
Julia Heslop, urban sculptor, Durham University

(Admission includes a copy of Issue #2 of Northern Correspondent magazine.)
