More about XY&O
XY&O began as a songwriting collaboration between Skip Curtis (vocals) and Tudor Davies (beats). After meeting in Cardiff Bay, the pair started writing songs primarily for other artists. The rapid addition of Nick Kelly (lead guitar) was the genesis of XY&O's distinctive haze pop sound.
The band posted their early bedroom demo's online and quickly attracted the attention of US radio, leading many early fans to assume XY&O were from Cardiff-by-the-Sea in California, not Wales.
Following their online success, the band decided to turn the XY&O project into a live band, leading to the addition of live drums, bass and synth players.
'When we knew we were going to play live, we didn't want to rely on laptops and playback to re-create our sound. Nothing can replace real people playing real instruments so we roped in the additional three members to give us the versatility and impact of a full live band'. - Skip Curtis.
“the trio create a thick sun-draped cocktail of sound, staccato guitars punctuating the light funk of the track as undeniable groove oozes from the bassline, an odyssey of super catchy, gorgeously layered vocals and sparkling synths.”
