Activities in The Peak District

At Peakender will the opportunity to see some of the fantastic Peak District and do some of the activities the area has become famous for. A morning and an afternoon session will be available Saturday & Sunday of the festival with transport running from Peakender to the activity's location.

Climbing at Stanage Edge- £30

Stanage Edge is one of the prominent gritstone outcrops overlooking Hathersage. It has a magnetic attraction for climbers from all over the world and offers grades to suit all abilities. We are running a introduction to climbing session to give you a taster of what this sport involves. You will be taught how to belay each other and tie in safely before climbing on real rock. This session is about getting out and trying something new under the guidance of a fully qualified member of staff.

Morning Sessions: Transport leaves Peakender Festival at 9am returning to the festival at 12.55pm

Afternoon Sessions: Transport leaving Peakender Festival at 1.10pm returning at 4.50pm

Caving at Stoney Middleton- £30

Stoney Middleton is a classic limestone gorge dating back some 320 million years. It has provided many cavers with their first true caving experience. Beneath the bottom of the cliffs lie some caves and old long disused Lead mines.

We will be exploring some of the small surface holes and old mine entrances before exploring the cave system called Carlswalk Cavern. This is a natural cave but we will be using a mined entrance called the Gin entrance and exploring underground looking at fossils and the cave formations beneath.

This is classed as an easier trip but there is some stooping and possibly crawling if people want to get that far in. This will also depend on how much time we have left.

Morning Sessions:Transport leaves Peakender Festival at 9am returning to the festival at 12.55pm

Afternoon Sessions: Transport leaving Peakender Festival at 1.10pm returning at 4.50pm

Abseiling at Millersdale- £25

The Millersdale viaduct on the Monsal Trail near Tideswell provides us with an excellent abseil venue. At 90feet high it is one of the highest abseils in the Peak District with the River Wye running directly underneath.

We abseil from a nice safe take off point to the bottom of a flight of steps to take you back to the top ready for your next go. We provide the opportunity for several abseils in each session. It is located in a very photogenic spot with fantastic views of the beautiful Peak District.

Morning Sessions: Transport leaving Peakender Festival at 9am returning at 12.15pm

Afternoon Sessions: Transport leaving Peakender Festival at 12.45pm returning at 3.45pm
