The Order of the North Star
Overview
The Order of the North Star by Mike Akers
The Order of the North Star is a play for young people aged 8+ exploring the founding of Brunel's railway works in Swindon and the building of the Railway Village.
It explores Victorian social history, railway development in Swindon and what it means to be a good citizen in today's world!
The play’s scenes are interspersed with 4 interactive sections. Actors take groups of 10 pupils each to explore Brunel’s vision & GWR’s social and industrial influences. Children then feedback how they’d use similar approaches to improve today’s Swindon and the wider world. The production takes place in STEAM Museum on the ‘platform’ around the locomotive King George V.
