Event description
An easy 90 minute stroll through a part of North Kensington/Notting Hill that was almost completely transformed by 1960s slum clearance

About this event

We will use an old photos of the area, as featured in the book, The Other Side of Notting Hill, to see how it has changed since the post-war period. The area, traditionally known as Kensal Town, also featured in the 1950s photographs of the famous street photographer, Roger Mayne, Alan Johnson's autobiography 'This Boy', and countless films and TV programmes as will be explained on the walk. The walk is free of charge but I will have some copies of my book, The Other Side of Notting Hill, with me on the day if you would like to buy one.

The walk is limited to 15 people only for comfort but this assumes the number of people allowed to meet outdoors will increase as planned on 17th May. If the current restriction of 6 only is extended, I will run the walk on a first come first served basis and organise a follow up for anyone left behind.
