A live, interactive 5-week online course helping parents understand self-harm and support their young person safely and confidently.

The Parent Toolkit is a live, interactive 5-week online programme designed to support parents and carers of young people who are self-harming or at risk of self-harm. Each week, you’ll take part in a small, supportive group (maximum of 8 parents) led by two experienced facilitators who bring both professional expertise and lived experience.

Supporting a young person who is self-harming can feel frightening, isolating and overwhelming. This programme offers a safe, compassionate space to understand what is happening, learn practical tools, and build greater confidence in how to respond.

Over the 5 weeks, you will:

  • Build a clear understanding of why self-harm happens
  • Learn about the needs underneath self-harming behaviours
  • Explore practical ways to interrupt the self-harm cycle safely
  • Strengthen communication and connection with your young person
  • Understand your own responses and how to stay steady during difficult moments
  • Create a personalised toolkit tailored to your family’s situation
  • Connect with other parents who truly understand what you’re going through

Each session is fully interactive and not pre-recorded. Together we use guided activities, discussion, and reflection to help you feel more equipped, less alone, and more confident in supporting your young person.

Before the programme begins, you will also have a 1:1 pre-course call with one of our facilitators so we can understand your situation and tailor the group to your needs.

If you are unsure whether this programme is right for you, or if the cost is a barrier, please reach out, we are always happy to talk through options.
