About this event

We would like to invite you to the first meeting of the Peer Partnership’s Coordinators Forum.

The Peer Partnership is the new name for all Brigstowe’s non-HIV work. We are providing support for peer development for people with long-term physical or mental health conditions or who are experiencing issues relating to protected characteristics, such as gender, ethnicity or sexuality.

The Peer Partnership Coordinators Forum is for people who are involved in delivering peer support services, or considering implementing peer support and/or service-user involvement, in the south-west. It will be an opportunity to meet with others running similar services, hear updates relevant to peer support, share best practice and see what information and resources may be available to help us in our roles.

The forum will meet quarterly and offer opportunities for you to network, highlight the important work you are doing as well as a chance to learn from each other. We also hope by having this forum we will contribute to the overall promotion and importance of peer support and service-user involvement locally across all our services.

Due to current restrictions, our first meeting will be taking place on Zoom.

Our first session agenda is as follows:

Agenda:

14:00-14:20 - Introductions and check in:

A chance for attendees to get to know what everyone is doing in their peer support programs.

14:20-14:40 – Highlighted Service:

Clare Peacock from Brigstowe will be talking about their HIV peer mentoring service and how it has adapted from in-person support to online mentoring during the lockdown, and the problems, barriers and opportunities this caused.

14:40-15:10 - Best Practice:

Nicola Coggins from Womankind will be speaking about Carl Rogers theories of person-centred therapy and how this has informed her work in peer support and take questions.

15:10-15:30 - Open Discussion:

We will open the room to general discussion, including what participants would like to see at future meetings and whether they would like to get involved.
