Петропавловская крепость была заложена 27 мая 1703 года. По преданию, Петр I сам выбрал место для новой крепости – небольшой Заячий остров расположенный в устье реки Невы в Санкт-Петербурге. Цитадель в форме шестиконечной звезды сооружалась по проекту составленному французским инженером Ж.Г. Ламбером при участии царя. В своем выступлении, Анастасия Беляева рассказывает об истории Петропавловской крепости как памятник русского зодчества, усыпальница российского императорского дома Романовых, и политическая тюрьма - и о современном музее.

The Peter and Paul Fortress was founded on 27 May 1703. According to legend, Peter I himself chose the location for the new fortress - on the small Hare Island close to the mouth of the River Neva in St Petersburg. The citadel, which is in the form of a six-pointed star, was designed by the French engineer Joseph-Gaspard Lambert with the Tsar's involvement. In her talk, Anastasia Belyaeva will discuss the history of the Peter and Paul Fortress as a Russian architectural monument, the tomb of the Romanov Imperial Family, and a political prison. She will also look at the museum today.

Анастасия Беляева - Главный специалист по развитию Государственного музея истории Санкт-Петербурга, который включает в себя Петропавловскую крепость. Она курирует новые проекты музея, и осуществляет связь с Попечительским Советом и спонсорами. Анастасия закончила Санкт-Петербургский Государственны Университет по специальности культурантропология, провела год обучения в университете Лозанны (Швейцария), и в свое время работала гидом с английским языком в Санкт-Петербурге.

Anastasia Belyaeva is the Head Development Specialist at the State Museum of the History of St Petersburg, which includes the Peter and Paul Fortress. She curates new museum projects, and is responsible for communication between the Board of Trustees and sponsors. Anastasia graduated from the St Petersburg State University in Cultural Anthrology, spent a year studying at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, and has previously worked as an English-speaking guide in St Petersburg.
