Event description

Description

The first of our 2018 Meet the Maker events will open with The Plastic Paradox series, hosted by the Museum of Design in Plastics (MoDiP), the UK's leading resource for the study and interpretation of design in plastics.

Beginning with an introduction to MoDiP, you will explore unusual ways of manufacturing in plastics, including 3D printing, through its collections, followed by a workshop activity led by James Wood of Studio Wood, a Dorset industrial design agency. Working in our new digital fabrication suite, participants will be introduced to the design process of 3D printing and learn key practical skills to complete an object on our P110 SLS printer.

These events are open to Dorset professionals in the maker industries who have an interest in building their capabilities or exploring new applications in design and to members of the plastics industry more widely.

As part of AUB's range of outreach initiatives to support Dorset industry, Meet the Maker participants are welcome to return to AUB and use our workshops free-of-charge for prototyping and design work. You will also learn about our grant funding opportunities to support your own innovation activities.

Spaces are limited we expect this event to be popular. Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided (12.00-13.00).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the event organiser.
