HOW WILL IT WORK?

This incredibly popular workshop dismantles the self-censorship which blocks our imagination, provoking and reviving our instinctive pleasure to “make believe”, and energising our singular, sensational presence as performers.

If we get back to basics seeking what drives any performer – be they tragic, comic, clown, soap, politic – we find a common ground: an inner child with a deep pleasure to make believe. But often “adult” life and all kinds of expectations get in the way. Through robust physical exercises, fantastic games and improvisation, we will work both as ensemble and solo, traversing dramatic and comic territories, expanding the limits of our own playfulness and make-belief.

You will gain a renewed sense of your particular power as a performer and tools to provoke that vital sensation. We will also generate material that may spark fresh ideas for numbers, scenes or entire shows!

“Brilliant ideas, creativity and spontaneity - and so much fun!”

“A huge confidence boost for me … brave and bizarre revelations!”

ABOUT

Amy is a theatre-maker, performance artist and facilitator. Following a degree in English at Cambridge University, she trained for two years with Philippe Gaulier in Paris, after which she established award-winning touring company Teatro Entre Escombros in Spain (“sublime, ridiculous”). Her most recent work has focused on solo performance, including MUMMY (performer, writer) and - in Portugal - De Monster (dramaturg, director). She writes, performs and directs for comedy and cabaret events, curates the satirical revue ExperTeaze and is currently writing her new bouffon show The Profit.

Amy has trained and worked with theatre companies from all over the world, including Complicite, Spymonkey and SITI Company. She has a diploma in Therapeutic Skills and is a core facilitator for Theatre for a Change (recent projects in Malawi and DRC) and Clowns Without Borders (recent projects in Greece and Turkey).

As a facilitator/coach, she is known for her playful and rigorous practice which is centred less on methods and more on madness. She frees the performer in a very special way.
