Event description

Description

Between March and April 1941 Plymouth city centre was effectively wiped off the map during seven nights of merciless bombing raids by the Luftwaffe. In what became known as the ‘Plymouth Blitz’, the city from Cattedown to Devonport was ripped apart and lives of Plymothians were changed forever. It was a devastation beyond anything ever dreamed of in the earlier days of the war. There was not a single part of the city which escaped, either business or residential, and there was scarcely a house in the entire area which did not sustain some damage, either serious or minor. Join Graham Naylor to learn the facts behind the raids, to ascertain the damage using archive photographs and to remember our civilians who were so tragically killed during those fateful nights.
