The Poetry Exchange invites you...

PLEASE NOTE, WE ARE NOW FULLY BOOKED FOR OUR EXCHANGES OVER 21-22 FEBRUARY IN MANCHESTER. HOWEVER, PLEASE DO CONTACT US TO BE ADDED TO A WAITING LIST, IN CASE SPACES BECOME AVAILABLE, OR FOR OUR NEXT VISIT TO MANCHESTER! hello@thepoetryexchange.co.uk / 07854 46247

Join us on Thursday 21 or Friday 22 February for a unique poetry experience – a chance to explore a poem that has been a friend to you, in conversation with The Poetry Exchange team.

The conversation will take place in a quiet corner of the wonderful Manchester Central Library, over a cup of tea, with two members of The Poetry Exchange team. Together, we’ll explore your chosen poem and discover the ways in which it has been a friend to you…

In exchange, you’ll receive a gift: a special recording of your chosen poem, inspired by your thoughts and feelings about it.

(Please note: we invite you to explore a poem that you have read or encountered, rather than written, since it is the connection between a reader and the words of another that we are exploring through The Poetry Exchange).

We're celebrating International Mother Languages Day (21 Feburary) over these two days in Manchester.  You are welcome to bring along a poem written in any language, preferably with an accompanying English translation. We'll hold the conversation in English, but feel free to bring along a friend and family member if you'd like any help with translation, as part of our exchange.

These conversations (lasting 45 minutes) take place on an individual basis at the following times:

Thursday 21 February: 10:00; 11:15; 12:30; 14:30; 15.45; 17:00

Friday 22 February: 09:30; 10:45; 12:00; 13:30; 14;45; 16:00

To book, choose an available time from the drop-down menu and then click the green ‘REGISTER’ button.

The Poetry Exchange is a free event.

If you have any questions, please get in touch at hello@thepoetryexchange.co.uk or alternatively, you can call John Prebble on 07854 426247.

If all the exchanges are fully booked, please contact us to be added to a waiting list - in case spaces become available, or for our next visit to Manchester!

We hope to meet you and your poem as friend in Manchester soon!

The Poetry Exchange

The Poetry Exchange explores the idea of Poems As Friends and celebrates the extraordinary ways in which poetry plays a part in people's lives.

At the heart of the project is the exchange itself: an invitation for an indiviudal to explore a poem that has been a friend to them, in conversation with The Poetry Exchange team. In exchange, we make them a gift: a special recording of their chosen poem, inspired by their thoughts and feelings about it.

We invite you to listen to some of these intimate and powerful conversations and readings through The Poetry Exchange Podcast (Silver Winner, Most Original Podcast, British Podcast Awards 2018).
