About this event

Join us to celebrate our annual Founders’ Dinner, which celebrates the vision of our founders and aims to raise awareness, and increase our reach and impact, in order to support a vibrant future.

On 22 October 1946, General Bór-Komorowski convened a meeting of the political leaders of the Polish Government-in-Exile and selected officers of the Home Army (Armia Krajowa). The following week, at Ognisko, they agreed to set up the Charitable Trust to collect and preserve primary source documents, journals, and other items of historical value relating to the Polish resistance during World War II.

The Polish Underground Movement Trust was registered in 1947. In 1988, it amalgamated with the Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum.

The Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum was established on 2 May 1945 and was officially registered as a charity on 15 November 1945.

This year, we are celebrating its 80th anniversary.

Significantly, the dinner will be held in the same historic building where the founders met, which is also celebrating its 85th anniversary this year.

It promises to be a special evening!

What to expect:

  • Drinks reception at 6.30 pm
  • Three-course dinner with wine, courtesy of the incredible hospitality of Ognisko restaurant
  • Guest speakers
  • A limited-edition commemorative programme.
  • Primary source film footage from the Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum.
  • Fundraising and networking opportunities
  • Launch consultation of the draft framework of our new strategic plan for the charity.
