Description

In public affairs, you are seeking to influence the decision makers and opinion formers in the political community. But who are those people and how are the decisions made? In this session you will find out about the political process in the UK; the respective role of Parliament, Government and the civil service; and how companies build relationships with Westminster and Whitehall in order to participate in the political conversation. John Lehal, CEO of Four Public Affairs presents this session.

After completing this session you should be able to:

- Understand the political process in the UK

- Understand the law making process and the wider role of Parliament

- Identify the key decision makers and opinion formers in the political community

- Explain how MPs are elected, and Lords and ministers appointed

- Understand the basics of lobbying and where public affairs fits in
