Description

Described as 'the Booker of the North', The Portico Prize awards £10,000 to the book that best evokes the spirit of the North of England.

In celebration of this year’s longlist, The Portico Prize invites you to join members of the longlist judging panel and several of the longlisted authors for a complimentary glass of wine and a lively panel discussion on contemporary Northern writing.

Speakers are Rachael Allen, Faber published poet and poetry editor at Granta, Kamal Kaan, award winning screenwriter and actor, and Dr Louisa Yates, Director of Collections and Research at Gladstone's Library. The discussion will be chaired by Dr David Cooper, Senior Lecturer in English at Man Met and director of the department’s research on Place Writing.

Ticket includes a complimentary drink. All longlisted books will be available to buy on the night courtesy of Blackwell's Bookshop Manchester.

Tickets £7 advance including free glass of wine on arrival (not including booking fee) / £10 on the door
