The Portrait Head a specialist sculpture course with Alan Herriot
On Wednesdays 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th of November 2016
6 - 9 pm
On this evening course over four sessions students will produce a life size clay portrait head modelled on a wire armature. The course will provide the opportunity to create a sculpted portrait head with expert tuition from renowned Scottish sculptor Alan Herriot. Alan is known for his large-scale figurative public monuments. In 2016 he was commissioned to produce The Woitek Bear which can be seen at Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh.
Students are invited to bring photographs and sketches of someone that they would like to sculpt to work from. They are also welcome to bring a sitter along to the class. The course will cover anatomy, scale, proportion and sculpting techniques. Including an introduction to the casting processes from mould making to the bronze pour.
Finally you will be offered the opportunity to have your finished piece cast by skilled artisans into resin or bronze at the end of the course. Students will receive a 15% discount for casting services.
Places for this course are limited to 10. All materials are provided.
There is a tearoom for students use with tea and coffee available.
