Alan Cleaver, author of The Postal Paths, talks about the army of postmen and women who, from 1840 to the mid -1970s walked (and sometimes cycled) up to 20 miles a day across Britain's rural landscapes delivering mail to the most remote homes and farms. The paths can still be walked and a few have been turned into heritage trails honouring the rural postie. Alan will talk about the remarkable lives they led walking the routes in all weathers, six days a week.
