About this event

The event will be a Zoom panel discussion focusing on the key elements of the Welsh Government’s proposed Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS). It will consider the SFS’ objectives, the key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges relating to the SFS, and the process of policy development since the first consultation in 2018 (Brexit and Our Land).

Following an opening discussion, attendees will be invited to discuss their thoughts on the above topics in a breakout room, in which a facilitator will make notes of the key topics discussed.

A plenary session will follow, in which the panellists will respond to the key points raised in the breakout room discussions, this will be the main event. The session will conclude with a Q&A and final conclusions from the Chair.

Aimee Morse (ESRC-funded PhD student at the Countryside and Community Research Institute) will chair the panel of Geraint Davies, Professor Janet Dwyer, Geraint Jones and Dr Sophie Wynne-Jones, in a discussion of the SFS.

Anyone with an interest in the development of the SFS is welcome to attend. There will be an opportunity for attendees to discuss their thoughts on the proposal and to contribute to a consultation response which will be developed from notes taken throughout the session.

This event will be of particular interest to those working in or with the land management sector and those developing policies associated with this sector.

This event is part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2022. You can follow updates from the Festival by searching #ESRCFestival on Twitter.
