Arts Therapists are well versed in the power of the arts to externalise difficult thoughts, feelings and relational patterns. But how do we think and talk with our patients about these externalised images, stories, songs and dances?
This training is suitable for art, drama, dance and music therapists who are interested in learning more about Systemic Thinking in working with children, adolescents and families. Focusing on Narrative Therapy, Externalisation and CMM Co-ordinated Management of Meaning practices participants will learn how these ideas can be integrated into Arts Therapies Practice to enable patients to make sense of their experiences and alongside therapist co- construct new narratives and meanings which are born out of the relationships and contexts our patients find themselves in.
Practical systemic externalisation exercises will also be introduced and explored adding to the therapists ‘tool kit’ of techniques and ways of working with children, adolescents and families.
