Join the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership and the Women’s Budget Group for an online event on how data-driven insights can drive meaningful progress in gender equality at local levels. This webinar will delve into the critical role of localised gender data plays in in highlighting disparities, influencing policy, and spurring action at regional and national levels.
We will hear from Dr Caitlin Schmid (Research Fellow, GIWL) on the newly launched Gender Equality Index UK (GEIUK), the first comprehensive tool mapping gender and geographic inequalities across UK local authorities. Prof. Miura Mari (Professor of Political Science, Sophia University, Tokyo) will offer insights from the Japanese Regional Gender Equality Index, demonstrating how it has spurred action at the prefectural level and influenced national debate. We will also be joined by Laura de Dominicis (Economic Analyst, Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, European Commission), whose expertise lies in quantitative analysis of regional economic development, with recent work exploring the “geography of discontent” and subjective well-being in European cities.
